Alleged Catfish robber caught

Upshur County Sheriff’s Office Investigators arrested Nathan Eric Richardson, 28, on Wild Onion Road at Lake O’ the Pines near Ore City Tuesday for Aggravated Robbery and two counts of Felon in Possession of a Firearm in connection with an armed robbery at the popular Ore City Catfish Village restaurant.

Around 3 p.m. that day, the Sheriff Office’s responded to Catfish Village, on Hwy. 155 North, about an aggravated robbery that had just occurred.

Deputies got a description of the suspect, as well as a description of the vehicle the suspect left in.

The store manager reported to deputies that the suspect entered the store demanding money and displayed a weapon.

A short time later Investigators David Cruce and Chris Clark located a vehicle matching the description of the one the suspect left in at a residence on Wild Onion Rd.

Investigators made contact with the homeowner, who matched the suspect’s description. Investigator Chris McCauley also responded to the scene to assist in the case.

During their investigation, evidence was obtained that connected Richardson to the robbery, Upshur County Sheriff Anthony Betterton said.

The investigators arrested Richardson for Aggravated Robbery and two counts of Felon in Possession of a Firearm.

Richardson was transported to the Upshur County Jail, where he was booked in on the charges.

Pct. 2 Justice of the Peace Lyle Potter arraigned Richardson and set his bonds at $75,000 on the Aggravated Robbery and $10,000 on each of the two Felon in Possession of a Firearm charges.

He remains in the county jail.

The case is still under investigation, and is being handled by lead Investigator McCauley.
