Grand Jury issues 21 indictments

Assault and drug/alcohol-related charges accounted for many of the 21 indictments returned by the Upshur County Grand Jury when it met Wednesday.

Six of the indictments were sealed because the indictees had not been arrested yet.

Those named in unsealed indictments, the charges against them, and their bonds (set by 115th District Judge Lauren Parish) included:

• Matthew Delmar Simmons, 28, Ore City, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a second-degree felony, bond set at $75,000. He remains in the Upshur County Jail.

• James Byron Wilson, 46, Pittsburg, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a second-degree felony. Bond was set at $35,000, and he remains in the Upshur County Jail.

• Loyd Daniel Amerson, 57, Gilmer, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a second-degree felony. Bond was set at 435,000, and he remains in the county jail.

• Donald Lee Binda, 33, Athens, aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury, a second-degee felony. He was released on a $3,500 surety bond.

• Thomas Earl Evans Jr., 31, Cason, driving while intoxicated with a child passenger, a state jail felony. He was released on a $10,000 surety bond.

• Courtney Farnsworth Lemmn, 33, Pittsburg, driving while intoxicated with a child passenger, a state jail felony. She was released on a $10,000 surety bond.

• Codie Kochin, 37, Big Sandy, possession of methamphetamne, a state jail felony. He was released on a $15,000 surety bond.

• Michael Richard Dube, 20, Gilmer, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a second-degree felony. Bond was set at $45,000, and he remains in the county jail.

• David Lee Mosley, 33, Big Sandy, assault against a pulblic servant, a second-degee felony. Bond was set at $35,000, and he remains jailed. Also, retaliation, a third-degree felony. He remains jailed on other charges.

• Anthony George Bassler, 35, Ore City, cruelty to livestock animals, a second-degree felony. Bond was set at $50,000, and he remains in the county jail.

• John E. Bahr, 50, Ore City, driving while intoxicated, subsequent offense-repeat offender, a second-degree felony. Bond was set at $10,000, and he remains in the county jail.

• Thomas Duane Berry, 42, Holly Lake Ranch, driving while intoxicated, subsequent offense, a third-degree felony. Bond was set at $25,000, and he remains jailed in Upshur County.

• Codi Aleksandur David, 19, Gilmer, aggravated sexual assault of a child, a first-degree fe;ony. Bond was set at $50,000, and he remains in the Upshur County Jail.

Sealed indictments included:

• Forgery, a state jail felony, 1.

• Fraudulent use or possession of a identifying information, a state jail felony, 2.

• Delivery of cocaine, a state jail felony, 1.

• Delivery of cocaine, a second-degree felony, 1.

• Delivery of Dyhydrocodeinone, 1.

One case, assault family violence, a third-degree felony, was passed.
