(LONGVIEW, Texas)—LeTourneau University President Dr. Dale A. Lunsford was elected to the board of directors of the Independent Colleges and Universities of Texas Monday morning by independent college presidents meeting in Houston. Lunsford was also elected to serve as the board treasurer through 2014. Lunsford previously has served on the ICUT board, but this is his first time to serve as aJan officer.
“Forty independent colleges in Texas serve thousands of students annually and have graduated many of the state’s leaders,” Lunsford said. “These campuses are essential to the future of Texas. I am honored to be elected to serve as we begin a new legislative session soon.”
ICUT is a nonprofit that has served for nearly 40 years as a voice for Texas’ fully accredited, nonprofit, tax-exempt private colleges and universities with state policy makers in support of higher education.
LeTourneau University is an interdenominational Christ-centered university located in Longview, Texas, offering academic majors in aviation, business, communication, criminal justice, education, engineering, health science-nursing, human services, kinesiology, the liberal arts, the sciences and psychology.
