East Texas Piney Woods residents as well as those residing in surrounding towns and communities should mark their calendars for Saturday, October 6 and plan to attend the Mims Volunteer Fire Department fundraiser all-day celebration.

As everyone knows, the devastating fires of last Summer burned tens of thousands of acres of East Texas pine and hardwood forests, leaving a path of scorched homes and earth in their wake, and oftentimes, the brave men and women volunteer firefighters were the only saviors that stood between containment and total loss of life and property.

Now, those same firefighters and the volunteer fire departments they represent are in need of our help, to restore lost equipment and depleted funds that will enable them to respond so admirably as they have in the past.

So make your plans to come out to the Crestwood Community on the north shore of Lake O’ The Pines just off Highway 729 at Johnson Creek and enjoy the festivities. Admission is FREE. There are games as well as a greased pig contest for the kids; a live and silent auction for items donated by local businesses and citizens; live music and delicious food.

In addition, the grand prize, a beautiful golf cart, fully-loaded with all kinds of amenities, sitting on a 5’  X 10’ utility trailer will be given away to some lucky resident who holds the winning $5.00 ticket!

All proceeds go to the Mims Volunteer Fire Department in order to enable them to continue to serve East Texas and surrounding communities!
