LETU TO PRESENT THEOLOGIAN DR. DARRELL BOCK ON APRIL 9

(Longview, TEXAS)— The public is invited to attend the third and final session of LeTourneau University’s Spring 2012 Theological Symposium Series featuring Dr. Darrell Bock on Monday, April 9. The series is hosted by LETU’s Department of Biblical Studies and Christian Ministries.

Bock will give a 30-minute chapel presentation at 10:50 a.m. in the S.E. Belcher Chapel and Performance Center, before presenting an academic paper at 1 p.m. in the Little Theatre on the third floor of the R.G. LeTourneau Memorial Student Center at the university’s main campus, 2100 S. Mobberly Ave.

The academic paper presentation will take about 30 to 40 minutes and will include a response from LETU faculty member Dr. Viktor Roudkovski, who will critically interact with the academic presentation, raising crucial issues before a 10-minute question-and-answer session.

Bock serves as research professor of New Testament Studies at Dallas Theological Seminary. He earned his bachelor’s from University of Texas, his master’s in theology from Dallas Theological Seminary, and his doctorate from the University of Aberdeen in Scotland.

Bock conducted postdoctoral study at Tübingen University in Germany.  His extensive authorship on the biblical books of Luke and Acts, as well as the historical Jesus discussion, has earned him a place as a New York Times best-selling author in non-fiction. Bock served as president in the Evangelical Theological Society from 2000-2001, and he currently serves as an editor-at-large for Christianity Today. His appearances in secular media include publications in the Los Angeles Times and the Dallas Morning News in addition to appearances on ABC and CNN.

Admission to the speaking events is free. Those interested in staying on campus for lunch may dine at the university’s Corner Café for $8 per person.
