Gilmer police are investigating several recent crimes.

At about 4 a.m. Tuesday, Gilmer Police Officers responded to an alarm call at the Gilmer Drug Company located at 112 Davis St. on the west side of the square in Gilmer.

Upon arrival, officers discovered the business had been burglarized. Unknown actors had shattered the glass in the front door to gain entry into the pharmacy. Several thousand Hydrocodone pills were taken from the business. If you have any information regarding this crime, please contact the Gilmer Police Department at 903-843-5545.

On Sunday, Gilmer Police Officer James Casey was dispatched to the Gilmer Care Center about a burglary of a vehicle. Upon arrival, Officer Casey observed that unknown actors had broken a window of a parked vehicle in order to gain access. Upon entry into the vehicle, actors stole a woman’s purse and contents, including credit cards and personal identification information.

At about that same time, Gilmer Officer Jason Murray was dispatched to a burglary of a vehicle at the First Baptist Church parking lot. At that time, it was observed that unknown actors had broken the window of a parked vehicle in order to gain access to the interior. A purse and contents were stolen from this vehicle as well.

While Officer Murray was at the scene, a purse was located in a nearby dumpster. That purse was later discovered to belong to the victim of the burglary at Gilmer Care Center.

“Obviously, these two burglaries are believed to be related and information regarding the actors in this case can be reported to the Gilmer Police Department at 903-843-5545,” said Gilmer Police Investigator Roxanne Warren.

Gilmer Police Department also reminds citizens to remove all personal property such as wallets and purses from their unattended vehicles.
