LeTourneau hosting tennis camps


LeTourneau University will be hosting six weeks of tennis camps again this summer, at the Davis Tennis Complex in Longview. Directors of the camp are: Doug Carter (Head Tennis Coach at LeTourneau) and Chris Blair (long-time Club Pro for Pinecrest Country Club). Camps are very organized and will give the students opportunity for both excellent instruction and great competition.

Session 1 of the camp begins June 2. It will be for beginners and intermediate players. There will be a good variety of talent levels at the camp, so no one will be overwhelmed. Campers will gain from the experience of talented players from both LeTourneau and Longview High School. Cost for the camp is $155, which includes a camp t-shirt and prizes. Camp runs from 7:15 a.m. to noon each day, Monday through Friday.

Session 2 of The East Texas Tennis Camp begins June 9. It is for current varsity players and those others that are very advanced. This is a premiere camp and will push the players to new levels. Cost for the camp is $195 and runs from 7:15 a.m. to 3 p.m., campers need to provide a sack lunch.

Session 3 (June 16 – June 20) and Session 5 (July 7 – July 11) are again for beginners to intermediate players. Those camps are $155 and run from 7:15 a.m. to noon. Session 3 will be at an alternate location, so call to get that information prior to the week of camp.

Session 4 (June 23 – June 27) and Session 6 (July 14 – July 18) are for varsity players. Those camps are $195 and run from 7:15 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Tennis is a tremendous, lifetime sport with many opportunities to gain scholarships for college. Coaches Carter and Blair are working hard to educate kids in our area to give them the positive tennis experience they need to have success in the sport.
