Weather spotters neededThe Mirror would like to set up a system of weather spotters to improve our coverage of the various rainfall amounts and other weather components that vary across the relatively large area of Upshur County. This system would be coordinated by Calvin Wade, who keeps records that he forwards to the National Weather Service. Each individual would use an outdoor thermometer for measuring the temperature and a rain gauge that would need to be placed in an open area. Areas to be covered, along with Wade’s home station at Kelsey and the automated station at the Gilmer airport, would be Pritchett-Latch, Big Sandy, Rhonesboro-Rosewood, Bettie-Simpsonville-Midway, Ore City-Diana. Anyone interested in becoming one of these volunteer weather spotters is invited to contact Calvin Wade at 903-725-6868, e-mail cw27sw33@etex.net, or Mac Overton, 903-843-2503, e-mail gilmermirror@aol.com. gilmermirror@gmail.com |
