TxDOT shuffles personnel


 The Texas Department of Transportation has announced realignment of its engineering and design offices in Northeast Texas. Six offices are being consolidated into three.

Kenneth Williams, engineer in the Gilmer office, and two designers are being moved to the Marshall office, where Williams will oversee the design group there. Also affected are the Carthage and Atlanta offices.

Engineering personnel from Atlanta will be transferred to the Texarkana office, while Carthage engineering people will go to Marshall.

Others will be transferred to Mount Pleasant.

“Nobody lost a job—we’ve just been shuffled around,” said Williams. He described his transfer as a “lateral move.” TxDOT said that the moves are a cost-cutting measure.

Maintenance facilities in Gilmer and elsewhere will remain in operation where they are.
