Descendants of Abraham Smith plan to meet, June 26-27, at the Express Inn Conference room, located at 3120 Estes Parkway in Longview.

Abraham died in Amherst County, Va. in 1806.

His son John, a Revolutionary War veteran, who married Mary Whitehead in early 1780’s, moved with his large family to Alabama in 1809.

From there, four sons migrated to East Texas in the 1850’s.

Son Elias, who married Francis, stayed longer in the Virginia area.

Abraham’s daughter Mary and husband, James Campbell, later followed the family to Alabama.

Now all the families are scattered throughout the United States.

The Texas reunion started with descendants of the four brothers, but now include descendants of most of the 12 siblings, plus those of both Mary and Elias.
