Harmony Choirs to present spring show

The Harmony School Choirs will present their spring show, “A Little Bit City and a Little Bit Country,” at the Gilmer Civic Center on Monday, April 27, at 6 p.m. Admission is $5. The public is invited.

The choirs under the direction of Lora Robison and choreographed by Cammy Burkhalter will be presenting music from Broadway, two classic piano solos, and music from the country scene.

The Harmony High School Choir will present It’s a Grand Night for Singing, Guys and Dolls, Phantom of the Opera and All that Jazz, featuring soloists Nikki Horton, Amy Dukote and Dakota Robertson.

Other vocal soloists presenting songs from various Broadway musicals will include Kolby Hogan, Aleah Eldridge, Taylor Cooper, Stephanie Kollman, Colten Brill, Lockie Breeding and Dakota Robertson.

Pianists include Abby Phillips (a third grader, she is the youngest performer) and junior Ryan Rendon.

The Junior High Choir will perform The Wells Fargo Wagon from Music Man, and the Sixth Grade Choir will perform a medley from Peter Pan.

The second act will include country music, including the Junior High Choir presenting Joy to the World and the Sixth Grade Choir singing Sourwood Mountain.

The Harmony High School Choir will present Let Me Be There, I Will Always Love You, and You’ll Never Walk Alone.

The high school men will sing All American Men, a country medley. Riley Henson, Tim McCoy and Kode Chamberlain, junior high men, will sing Red River Valley. Other soloists will include Amber Cole, Courtney Burnett, Anthony Aiwohi, Lockie Breeding, Nikki Horton, Nan Bohannon, Katherine Betterton and Kimberly Loftis.

A silent auction bake sale provided by the Keynote Booster Club will be held before the show and during intermission. Proceeds from the show and bake sale will benefit choir scholarships for seniors and scolarships for Summer All-State Camps.

The show is sponsored by Tele’s Mexican Restaurant and the East Texas Academy of Music.
