Many events are scheduled in conjunction with this year’s Gilmer Yulefest.

The Christmas parade is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. tomorrow (Thursday, Nov. 29).

Breakfast with Santa will be 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Gilmer High School Cafeteria.

Tickets for those ages 3 to 11 are $2.50, and for those 12 and older, tickets are $3.50.

Homes and businesses decorated for the Christmas season will be judged Monday, Dec. 3.

First- and second-place winning signs will be placed at businesses for outside displays and window displays.

Home decorating categories include Best All Around, Most Lights, Best Religious Theme and Best Specialty. Signs will be placed on the lawns of the winning homes.

There will also be up to six Honorable Mention awards, which will be mentioned in The Gilmer Mirror. These will be for “second places,” and for homes that do not fit any of the above categories. No monetary prizes will be awarded.

If you want your business or home judged, please have your lights turned on by 6 p.m. Monday.

Call the Gilmer Area Chamber of Commerce at 903-843-2413 before 4:30 p.m. this Friday with your name and address, if you wish to be added to the list for judging. Homes must be in the Gilmer city limits to be judged.
