Visions of Excellence to host event

Visions of Excellence, an area-wide non-profit organization based in Upshur County, will host “Looking Back to Move Forward”, an event to commemorate African American history, on Saturday, Feb. 9, beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Gilmer Civic Center.

Performing will be Shelbi Herndon, Don Burton and the Gilmer High School Stars Drill team.

The keynote address will be brought by Rev. Forrest L. Curry, pastor of Moses Chapel CME Church of Gilmer.

He will be accompanied by the Moses Chapel Mass Choir.

Admission is free.
