One thousand one hundred ninety one students from 51 schools across Texas met for the National Archery in the Schools Texas state tournament on Thursday, March 6. The students shot a combined 47,640 arrows during the day to determine the 2014 champions and possibly qualify to move on to the National NASP tournament in Louisville, KY.

Only schools that teach archery (TX-NASP) as part of the in-school curriculum and shoot a qualifying score in the State Qualifying Tournament are qualified to compete in this tournament.

The State Qualifying Tournament was conducted Nov. 25, 2013 through Dec. 20, 2013. During that timeframe schools conducted a NASP tournament shoot at their school or with others and submitted their scores online. More than 1800 students participated in the qualifying tournament.

Shooting Divisions for Teams and Individuals in all NASP tournaments are:

Elementary, 4th & 5th grade

Middle, 6th- 8th grade

High School, 9th-12th grade

Students shoot 10 practice arrows and 30 arrows for score. A perfect score for Individuals is 300. Teams are comprised of 12 to 24 students with at least 4 opposite gender. The team scores are determined by the top 12 archers, 4 of which must be opposite gender scores.

This year the top Texas teams include:
