All Players to Wear Unequal Halo Headgear at Texas State Championships
PHILADELPHIA (June 14, 2017) – Unequal®, a Philadelphia-based sports technology company, will be supplying their patented Halo® headgear to each participant in the 20th annual Texas 7on7 State Championships in College Station, Texas, June 29-July 1. This competition will feature 128 qualifying teams from across Texas, split into two divisions, during three full days of non-stop action.
“For the third consecutive year, we’re proud to play an integral role in promoting safer, smarter play for all 7on7 athletes who are coming to win a championship,” stated Jim Caldwell, executive vice president of Unequal. “The players get to strut their stuff while we get to showcase our highly protective Unequal headgear. Everyone wins.”
All Unequal Halo headgear products are designed to look just like a headband while offering serious protection to reduce the risk of concussions. Each Halo contains a patented, military grade, coated aramid fabric that uniquely reduces acceleration - a key element in reducing concussion risk - and absorbs and disperses impact force.
“The kids who will be traveling to play in the Texas 7on7 Championships all want the bragging rights that come with winning it all—that’s certainly a key focus,” stated Doug Stephens, executive director of the organization. “One of our main focuses is keeping the players safe. We’re delighted to partner with Unequal again this year to give our players the best chance to play safe, competitive games with required Unequal headgear to lower the risk of head injuries.”
This event will be held at College Station’s Veterans Park and Athletic Complex, a 150-acre facility with 11 multipurpose athletic fields (two synthetic and 9 natural grass). VPAC includes a lighting system for day and evening play on all fields, Wi-Fi connectivity, covered pavilion with 550-seat capacity and parking for over 2,000 vehicles.
Invented by company founder and CEO Rob Vito, Unequal® is military-grade protection that has been modified for sports applications. With over 100 patents in the U.S. and abroad, Unequal is fortified with technology like no other. From the World Cup to the Super Bowl, World Series to the Stanley Cup to collegiate, high school and youth play, Unequal protects athletes at all skill and age levels in high impact sports.
Unequal is well on its way to becoming a standard in football, soccer and other high-impact sports. Their military-grade composites are built with TriDur™, Accelleron® and optional ImpacShield™. This ultra-light, ultra-thin athletic gear works differently than virtually every other traditional foam and plastic of equal weight and thickness on the market by absorbing, dispersing and dissipating energy from an impact away from the body to provide the ultimate protection. It allows for greater protection without compromising mobility, so athletes can play more at their peak level.
