The Twentieth Century Club met on November 21 at the home of Mrs. Pete Herrmann. Following the call to order by President Jean Hamil members responded to the roll call by providing a word that describes the holiday season. Popular words included family, children and grandchildren, food, and joy. New member Margo Carter was introduced and welcomed to the club.

Following a brief business meeting, Becky Skinner presented the day's program "Setting a Holiday Table". She began by listing especially popular decor themes this year including owls, lanterns, burlap, and the colors silver and white. Then, she demonstrated a number of ways to decorate the dinner table for both the fall and Thanksgiving and Christmas. Some ideas included incorporating natural materials, placing an ornament at each place setting as a favor, using small stockings to hold silverware, and purchasing decorative salad plates to add interest to your table if you don't own Christmas dishes. At the conclusion of the program, Mrs. Skinner presented a large mesh wreath as a door prize to drawing winner Barbara Williams.

Members were served from a lovely Thanksgiving themed decorated table. The colorful menu consisted of hot chicken salad, cranberry salad, yam tassies, chocolate pomegranate candy, yogurt strawberry granola, olives, nuts, spiced tea and coffee. Members in attendance in addition to those mentioned above included Cal Arnold, Mikie Clark, Merle Cross, Sandy Dean, Betty Finney, Bridgett Fowler, Janice Gage, Reta Lewis, Cindy Murry, Betty Orms, Mary Ann Patterson, Rolinda Shipp, Bettye Lou Smith, Jeannie Smith, Melinda Smith, Raye White, and Irma Williams.
