One of the most dangerous places to be in Upshur County on Friday, Oct. 30, was at the intersection of Hwy. 155 South and FM 2685 (by the golf course).
There were three injury accidents, and from one of them, a woman remained in Intensive Care Thursday, investigating Department of Public Safety Trooper Ken Nolley said.
Nolley was still busy interviewing witnesses and writing reports Thursday.
The first accident Oct. 30 occurred at about noon, when Brettye J. Kennedy, 69, of Tyler, driving a 2004 Chevrolet Impala, was at a stop sign at Hwy. 155 S. and FM 2685.
Nolley said she pulled into the intersection to turn onto South Montgomery St., and struck a 1990 Chevrolet 2500 pickup pulling a semi-trailer. The driver, John R. Ashley, 53, of Avinger was not injured.
Ms. Kennedy remains in ICU in a Tyler hospital.
Nolley said she would be ticketed for failure to yield right of way.
The other two wrecks occurred within minutes of each other.
At about 3:45 p.m., a southbound 2008 Kia Optima, driven by Jessica N. Wilson, 29, of Gladewater, attempted a left turn from Hwy. 155 onto FM 2685. She turned into the path of a northbound 1994 Ford F150, driven by Brenda D. Widemon, 51, of Diana.
Ms. Widemon sustained non-incapacitating injuries and was treated at Good Shepherd Medical Center in Longview.
Ms. Wilson and three juvenile passengers in her vehicle were treated for non-incapacitating injuries at East Texas Medical Center in Gilmer.
Ms. Wilson was cited for failure to yield right-of-way.
At about 3:49 p.m., Margaret T. Odom, 63, of Big Sandy was northbound on Hwy. 155 in a 2005 Ford Explorer, when a 2003 Mitsubishi driven by Haley Hutchison, 17, rear-ended her vehicle.
