The Department of State Health Services in Austin officially named its state laboratory building in a ceremony Friday for the late Dr. Bob Glaze, longtime Gilmer chiropractor who served 12 years in the Texas House of Representatives.

The lab is now officially known as the Dr. Bob Glaze Laboratory Services Section Building.

Glaze had served on the Texas Board of Health.

A news release from the Department of State Health Services stated that Glaze, known as “Dr. Bob” by colleagues and constituents, “played a key role in securing funding for the DSHS lab building as a mmber of both the House Appropriations and Public Health Committees during his time in office.”

The release added that “Glaze, who passed away in 2010 at the age of 82, is remembered as a tireless advocate for public health and improved health care who devoted himself to the wellbeing of Texas residents as a lawmaker and private citizen.”
