May 19, 2014 – Dallas, TX - Stephen Holland, regarded as one of the most important and commissioned sports artists in history, and portrait artist of many of the most famous athletes in the world has released his image of Texas great Nolan Ryan.Ryan collaborated with Holland on this project by offering his own signature to the painting and the series of fine art limited-edition prints.

Known globally for his life-like portraits, Holland has painted the most famous athletes in the world, including Randy Couture Muhammad Ali, Sandy Koufax, Michael Jordan, Wayne Gretsky, Magic Johnson, Tiger Woods, Joe Namath, and many more.

Nolan Ryan, currently the CEO of the Texas Rangers, and executive advisor to the Houston Astro’s is known as one of the greatest pitcher in the history of Baseball. His rocket fast 100+ mph pitch earned him the all-time no-hitter record, eight years as an All-Star, and the record for retired players numbers, in three MLB teams (Angles, Astro’s and Rangers).

Holland’s work can usually be seen around sporting arenas and corporate offices of major league teams, in addition to the homes of the players themselves. However, Holland’s publishing agency has released a series of fine art limited editions, personally signed by Nolan Ryan himself, that are being made available through local galleries.

About Stephen Holland

Stephen Holland is not only the most famous living sports artist in the world; he is also the official artist of the Los Angeles Dodgers, Baltimore Ravens, Colorado Avalanche and Muhammad Ali….yes, Muhammad Ali.

The Bronx, New York native has carved out a niche for himself that is unparalleled in the fine art world and has garnered the respect and admiration of sports greatest athletes including: Magic Johnson, Peyton Manning and Tiger Woods and legends like Jackie Robinson, Joe Namath and Mickey Mantle. Most recently, Holland was commissioned to paint the New York Yankees ‘Triple Threat Suite’, a collection of three works portraying: A-Rod, Derek Jeter and Mariano Rivera.

Holland's talent and contributions to art and sports received national recognition in 1993, when the American Sport Art Museum awarded him the honor of Sports Artist of the Year. In his early years, Holland attended Art Students League, the School of Visual Arts and Pratt Institute, all in New York City and has since racked up a host of honors including being Official Artist of the Los Angeles Kings and being one of the twelve artists selected by the United States Olympic Committee to represent the 100th Anniversary of the Olympics.

Holland is the master of painting the “tough guys” of sports and celebrity. There is struggle and triumph, grit and glory, humanity and spirit, in every Holland painting. Holland has the ability to capture the raw emotion of a moment and make people feel as if they are part of his image, creating a sentimental connection between art and collector.

Standing in front of one of Holland’s five-to-six foot peerless portraits, the viewer experiences the painter’s passion for his subject. His “in your face” compositions have an uncanny sense of the moment that visually bursts from the canvas. This edginess is further enhanced by his ferocious painting techniques: bold line work, aggressive color and daring shapes and forms.

Although most well-known for his lifelike sports images, Holland has also been given granted permission to paint anyone who’s ever been nominated for a Grammy Award. His work is found in the collections of celebrities, athletes, and private collectors around the globe.
