With health care workers across the state facing shortages of protective face masks, a local quilt shop is answering the call and encouraging their customers to do the same. Quitman’s Stitchin’ Heaven met with local medical professionals over the weekend and with their guidance, have produced a YouTube tutorial detailing how to create face masks at home.

Since beginning outreach last week, Stitchin’ Heaven founder Deb Luttrell has received requests from medical facilities from Tyler to Dallas amassing to more than 50,000 face masks needed as quickly as possible. Luttrell is encouraging sewers to use their free time to help out. Those who would like to help meet this ask can ship their masks directly to Stitchin’ Heaven, who will deliver the masks to their contacts across North Texas. A landing page with more information can be found here.
