TEXSAR ORGANIZES RESPONSE TEAM IN GALVESTON COUNTY
Austin, Texas, Thursday, January 3, 2013 – Central Texas TEXSAR members are starting a chapter in Galveston County. Prospective members may attend an informational meeting on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at 10:00 AM at the Galveston County Emergency Operations Center located at 1353 FM 646 West, Suite 201, Dickinson, TX 77539.
Prospective volunteers are encouraged to visit www.texsar.org/galvestonmeeting to sign up for the meeting.
“We are looking forward to establishing a new TEXSAR chapter in the Galveston County area,” stated Greg Pyles, CEO of TEXSAR, “This team will play a critical role in supporting our agreements with both Galveston and Fort Bend Counties. These highly trained men and women will continue to help our partner agencies fill gaps in emergency services created by shrinking government funding.”
TEXSAR is an all-volunteer, first responder organization based in Austin that services Central Texas and is able to deploy throughout the entire State. They are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that expanded from a ground search and rescue team to a fully capable, multi-discipline search and rescue, swift water rescue, wild land fire, and disaster response team. All TEXSAR personnel are certified according to State and Federal standards and operated under the emergency management and National Incident Management System. “TEXSAR- Texans Helping Texans”.
As a non-profit organization, there is never a charge to the requesting agency for TEXSAR’s services.
