Students in K-12th grade encouraged to submit artwork for Veterans Day Art Contest


Kilgore College is hosting an art contest open to students K-12 and homeschool students to show appreciation for armed forces veterans.


Participants are encouraged to create artistic pieces that convey thanks and appreciation to veterans.


Winners of the contest will be announced at the Veterans Day Appreciation Celebration set for 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 11, in the KC Devall Student Center Ballroom.


According to Jackie Kelley, KC’s Veterans Certifying Official, the art contest is intended to bring about awareness of the history, purpose, and importance of Veterans Day to students.


“We are excited to see how students can artistically show appreciation for some of the bravest and most selfless people in America,” Kelley said.


All entries will be displayed during the Veterans Day Celebration Nov. 11.


Art will be judged on the basis of originality, content, creativity and must be accompanied by the entry form located at


Only one entry per person is allowed.  Deadline to submit an entry is noon Thursday, Oct. 31.


Submit all entries to Jackie Kelley in the Financial Aid Office on the second floor of the KC Devall Student Center.


One winner from each age group will be announced.


Age Groups and Awards:

K-1st Grade: $50

2nd-3rd Grade: Grade: $50

4th-6th Grade: $50

Junior High: $50

High School: $75

KC Student: $125

Coloring Book Page (for younger children)

Ceramic, Glass & Metal Art

Any Craft Project

Graphic Design


Food Art
