In the wake of the Dec. 14 mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott’s office released a list of about 80 Texas school districts which supposedly had no such plan or whose plan hadn’t been updated.
Ms. Richardson said that while waiting to go into an “emergency operations meeting” Monday, she checked her e-mail and saw the error. She said she immediately called Abbott’s office, which referred her to the Texas School Safety Center.
“We have to do a school safety audit report every three years. . . Thank God that I kept a copy,” Ms. Richardson said. She said she phoned the safety center, and faxed it a copy of the document showing “we had complied.”
The center sent an e-mail apologizing for the error, and Union Hill ISD has been removed from Abbott’s list, she said.
Ms. Richardson also said her district had held an emergency operations meeting last October.
