San Jacinto Museum Launches “Staggeringly Cool” Website
Houston, Texas - The San Jacinto Museum of History Association has launched a completely new website at www.SanJacinto-Museum.org that uses engaging features and high-tech design solutions. Features include more than 3,000 images of the Museum’s artifact collections; maps of the battlefields; the amazing construction of the San Jacinto Monument; searchable databases; and videos of the reenactments of the Battle of San Jacinto and other attractions.
Called “staggeringly cool” by one of the early testers, the website was created by the Houston brand experience firm BrandExtract, LLC. "The new site provides a very immersive experience and unprecedented access to the collections of both the museum and the library,” says Malcolm Wolter, BrandExtract’s Vice President Interactive who oversaw the website overhaul. “It's an amazing resource for students, professionals and armchair historians alike. There's new video content that we created with the help of Houston Arts & Media; tons of pictures all over the site; and an interactive map that compares the current landscape to the 1836 site, as described in contemporaneous accounts. It's a very engaging site — the kind one can get lost for hours in."
“This fresh new website is another major educational outreach of the San Jacinto Museum Association,” says Larry Spasic, President of the San Jacinto Museum of History. “In January, we released the Association’s in-depth ‘Curriculum Guide for Teaching Texas History’ and our online Image Gallery of photos, documents, newspaper articles, artifacts and document transcriptions to the public. Now, just 10 months later, our new site is available as another extremely important channel to bring Texas history alive.”
