Ore City gears up for Yule Fest

Plans are underway in Ore City for the annual Yule Fest, set for Friday, Dec. 6 and Saturday, Dec. 7, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Arts and crafts will be in the Community Center and will be open on Friday. Outside booths will be open also. Some food booths will be open on Friday.

Saturday activities open with games for children and youth at 8 a.m.

Singing at the Gospel Arbor featuring local groups and congregational singing will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Music used will be from older church hymnals.

An Antique Car and Truck Show, sponsored by the Ore City Police Department, will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. To enter the show, call Chief Dave Morris at 903-968-2511, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Youth Groups and local organizations only will have food booths. Other vendors will sell arts and crafts and miscellaneous merchandise.

The parade will start at 5:30 p.m., promptly on Peach St. and onto Hwy. 450 downtown Main St. All entries must be in place by 4:30 for judging.

The parade will feature the Ore City High School Band, Ore City Fun Festival Queens, floats, antique cars, Santa hitching a ride on one of the city’s beautiful new fire trucks, and more. Entry forms are available at City Hall.

Santa will be visiting with the children up to 8 years old following the parade. The children must be accompanied by a parent.

Deadline to sign up for the outdoor lighting contest is Dec. 9.

The Christmas Tree Park is open, and everyone is invited to place a tree in memory of a loved one.
