We need a bit of help.

The historic Ore City Cemetery goes all the way back to the days of the old Murray League. You possibly have members of your family buried there, and may have plans for that to be your final earthly resting place.

The Ore City Cemetery Association was formed for the purpose of protecting and maintaining the cemetery. The costs of maintenance come from three sources: interest on the endowment fund, sales of lots, and donations from members of the community.

As you know, interest rates are at historic lows, and income from interest in our endowment has become insufficient to cover the cost of maintaining our cemetery. We have decided that this might be a good time to ask our supporters to consider making donations to close this gap between our expenses and our income.

Donations are tax-deductible, and may be made in the form of memorials or gifts to honor persons or institutions. Some give a memorial instead of, or in addition to, flowers at the time of the death of a friend. The Association will send a suitable memorial card to the family when such a gift is made.

We are going to take care of our cemetery. You can be assured of that, but we think we should protect our endowment fund for long-range care. Your donations can help us to meet both of those goals.

Gifts may be mailed to: Ore City Cemetery Association (or just OCCA) at Box 1073, Ore City, TX 75683, or given directly to the treasurer, Sherry Morgan, at Newsom’s Grocery in Ore City.
