New book challenges Christians to think outside of the ‘Western Christian’ mindset of prayer
Julia Dee Motycka announces publication of ‘Power, Prayer, and Spiritual Warfare’
SAN ANTONIO – Believers are challenged to set aside the mind-set that most “Western Christians” have acquired about prayer and open their minds to the teachings of scripture in the new book “Power, Prayer, and Spiritual Warfare: Harnessing the Power of Christ as God Intended” (published by WestBow Press) by Julia Dee Motycka. “As believers we have living in us the same power that God used to speak the creation of the world and the same power that raised Jesus from the dead,” she says. The book contains a foreword by Max Lucado.
Motycka wants to encourage her readers to see how God designed prayer to work. What she presents in the book deals mainly with “horizontal” prayer (sending God’s power out to change lives) in contrast to “vertical” prayer (time spent talking and listening to God). She acknowledges both are crucial to Christian living, but feels that believers asking God to fill them with his power without also sending God’s power out to do its work may leave many describing their prayer life as “powerless.”
Motycka shares the personal journey she went through as she asked God to show her how prayer works. She believes this book is what God has shown her through her prayers and studies and she hopes it will encourage Christians to utilize the “most precious and powerful gift that God gave us, the power of God.”
