The Upshur County Patriots, Camp 2109 of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, will be hosting the unveiling of a monument at the Historic Upshur Museum Saturday, June 22, in their continuing effort to honor Confederate Heroes of all colors.

The dedication, remembering all who served from or made Upshur County their home after the war, will be held at 1 p.m., in front of the Historic Upshur Museum on the northeast corner of the courthouse square in Gilmer.

This is an integral part of the ongoing research, documentation and preservation of the true history of the South, said Patriot member Phil Davis.

“Their ultimate goal is to make available documented factual information providing an accurate account of history prior to, during, and after the War of Northern Aggression through publications, institutional teaching, and group presentations,” Davis said.
