Currently serving as professor of Intercultural Studies at Sioux Falls Seminary, Moon is also director of the university’s Wesley House of Study. There, he helps United Methodist students connect with one another and develop their faith through doctrine-specific coursework. From 1985-2001, he worked for the Virginia State Health Department as the district engineer of the Office of Water Programs.
Moon received his Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from Virginia Tech and his Graduate Certificate in Biblical Studies from Columbia International University. He earned a Master of Arts in social sciences from Azusa Pacific University in 2000, as well as a doctorate in intercultural studies from Asbury Theological Seminary in 2005. Moon also participated in Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship, a college campus ministry organization that sponsors small group Bible studies and spiritual leadership training. He further developed his faith while in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, a similar outreach group that encourages those in the sports arena to share the message of God.
From 1992 to 2001, Moon and his wife, Pam, served with Soudan Interior Mission, an international mission organization with more than 1,600 active missionaries. While concentrating on water development and church planning in Ghana, West Africa, he realized that missions could be a valuable means to help people grow in their faith. Relocating from Louisville, Ky., to Sioux Falls, S.D., in 2005, Moon joined the faculty at Sioux Falls Seminary. In this position, Moon encourages and equips tomorrow’s cross-cultural workers.
