After raising almost $3 million in its first two years, Kilgore College’s Annual Campaign for Excellence is entering its third year.

According to Leah Gorman, KC’s Director of Development, donating to the campaign is an excellent way to designate a gift toward scholarships, instructional innovation, student life, campus enhancement or a specific purpose.

In its first two years, about 1,500 individual gifts were received by the college which Gorman said helps with the campaign’s goal to make the college less dependent on state funds.

“It’s not about how much people give, but that they do give,” Gorman said. “Kilgore College plays an integral role in the economic development of this region.  Donations from this campaign will allow us to maintain the level of education that produces quality employees to fuel this area’s economic future.”

An annual gift to the “Annual Campaign for Excellence” provides resources to elevate the level of academic quality, improve the student experience and enhance the beauty and function of KC’s campuses.

More than 30,000 brochures have been mailed out to KC alumni, employees and retirees. The foundation is currently scheduling one-on-one visits with local businesses and community members.

Members of the foundation will also be speaking to local civic and service organizations.

There are many ways to give to the campaign and donors can request monies are applied toward specific elements of the college.

Gifts can be specified for scholarships, instructional innovation projects, student life or campus enhancement, among other ways to give.

There are also opportunities to have buildings, classrooms or hallways named after specific people for larger donations.

Donations are accepted both in-person and online with cash, check or credit card.
