KC Theatre Department to perform ‘Steel Magnolias’ comedy Nov. 17-22
The Kilgore College Theatre Department will perform the comedy “Steel Magnolias” by Robert Harling, Nov. 17-22.
The play tells the story of a close-knit circle of friends whose lives come together in a small parish in modern-day Louisiana.
“Many people will remember the 1989 film starring Sally Fields, Julia Roberts, Shirley McClain and others,” said Kathy Barber, theatre instructor. “Filled with humor and heartbreak, these ‘Steel Magnolias’ will make us laugh and cry as the realities of their lives in tiny Chinquapin Parish unfold.”
Patrons can make reservations and pick up tickets at the Will Call window on the afternoon or night of the performance. All seats are general admission.
Performances are set for 7:30 p.m. Nov. 17-21 (Tuesday – Saturday), with a matinee performance at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 22. The play will be directed by Ann Bean.
All performances will be in Van Cliburn Auditorium in the Anne Dean Turk Fine Arts Center on the KC campus. Children under the age of six will not be admitted.
Tickets for the play are $6 for adults, $5 for students and $4 with a KC identification card. The box office will open one hour prior to each performance and nobody will be admitted after the play has begun.
