After an anticipated event has taken place it is more obvious as to whether the right decision was made before hand, or if a different one should have been made. In retrospect we may have opportunity to look back unto to event after it has taken place. In doing so we can rationalize as to its value under the circumstances.
IT IS EASIER to know what should have been done afterward than to guess what should be done in the future. The allusion to 20/20 has references to being able to see normally or possessing perfect vision. Eye doctors, professional called: Ophthalmologists, score a person’s ability to see by using 20/20 as perfect vision. Higher numbers such as 200/20 indicates a person needs eye glasses in order to see properly, especially to read.
Sometimes an individual will use such expressions as: “Hindsight is 20/20,” or “Hindsight is better than foresight” in derision of another who has criticized them for a decision they made.
