Citizens are suffering because of the current Federal Government shutdown. Our, uncontrollable Federal Government, supported by unrestrained Federal Income Tax is the reason! If Citizens are wise enough to demand passage of U.S. House Bill HR:25 this madness will stop! The fair Tax description of this Bill is disputed by some, however, HR:25s requirement that will controllably repeal the 16th Amendment is possibly the single most beneficial part of this Bill and this can not be denied.

The 16th Amendment to the U.S. constitution enacted in 1913 allowed the current Federal Income Tax which was supported by many trusting Citizens, many who did not understand how this change would totally redefine the Federal Government. Many self centered Citizens and corrupt Politicians promoted the "new" Federal Income Tax as a flat Income Tax that would be applied only on the very wealthy. A war weary trusting Citizenry for the most part foolishly believed these snake oil salesmen! Today we know the damage and fear the Federal Income Tax has caused or is causing.

It has become the weapon of choice to punish any and all opposition to Federal Control of our lives. It seems Citizens across the United States are looking for a substitute for the current failed Federal Income Tax. That simple system is defined in HR:25 The Fair Tax Bill. This Bill replaces it does not add to the current Federal Income Tax. This solution was not developed in Washington by Politicians. It was developed and payed for by Citizens! It has been promoted by unfunded volunteer Citizens like myself for one simple reason, it will work!

From 1776 too 1912 the United States grew and prospered as no other Nation in history. We were the shining light of opportunity for the entire World. That opportunity was polluted, perverted and dimmed by passage of the 16th Amendment. This mistake can be corrected. We do not have to settle for a impotent Congress! We do not have to settle for a corrupt failed Income Tax. We do not have to stand by watching as our fellow Citizens are punished for exercising their Right to free speech and expression. The solution is in-hand; passage of HR:25 The Fair Tax Bill will stop these abuses.

Those of you who live in a Congressional District Represented by a Member of the House Ways and Means Committee have the unique opportunity to save this Nation. We; You can turn this ship around before it is wrecked on the rocks of greed & bankruptcy. Call your Representative and demand that they vote to send HR:25 to the House Floor!

Please don't take my word for anythingstated hear. To discover the truth about our failed Federal TaxCode and the positive attributes of HR:25, go to www.fairtax.ogr or http://thomas.loc.gov/home/LegislativeData.php?n=Browse. Read the Bill for yourself, it is only 131 double spaced typed pageslong. Yet it totally replaces the thousands & thousands of pagesmaking up our current failed Federal Income Tax Code!

Dear Editor,

Please consider the following piece for publication in your newspaper. If your newspaper policy permits, please print my email address after my name and city of residence.

Thank you,

Mr. Eldridge says that he is a “tax lawyer/CPA.” As a former tax attorney that saw the light in the 1980’s, it is surprising to see a “tax lawyer/CPA” make so many allegations that either reveal an inability to comprehend or a deliberate desire to distort a simple and effective tax reform system--the FairTax®.

Here are some of Mr. Eldridge’s recent assertions and the actual facts.

“The Fair Tax proudly advertises that it increases welfare.” The FairTax® does advertise that it helps the less fortunate but not by “increasing welfare” but by creating jobs and exempting purchases for everyone--up to the poverty level.

“The Fair Tax is a 40-70 percent in-your-face retail sales tax that would spark a taxpayer rebellion that would destroy our 70 percent retail-sales-sensitive economy.” The actual FairTax® rate is 23% of every dollar you spend on new retail goods and services. Each person gets their entire paycheck--not the remaining amount after deducting income tax and social security and decides for themselves the amount of federal tax they pay--not having the government decide for them. Also, for a family of four earning and spending $60,000 on new retail goods and services, the effective rate of the FairTax® is 11.5% because the first $30,000 they spend is exempt.

“The new IRS (i.e., the Sales Tax Administration Authority, or STAA) will be worse, more invasive, than today's IRS – we may well have to file an ‘Annual Fair Tax Summary.’” How a tax attorney could compare the simple sales tax return filed by providers of retail products and services to the present 70,000 plus page Income Tax Code is beyond amazing. Individuals would no longer file any return of any kind. In addition, since over 90% of the retail sales occurs at the 7% of the largest retailers—like Walmart, the FairTax® evasion rate will be much less than under the present income tax which many experts believe is in excess of 25%.

What we need is a flat income tax with no deductions, no exemptions, no credits and a 10 percent rate.” Here we see Mr. Eldridge’s real agenda. He wants to keep the IRS and create the “myth of true tax reform.” Does anyone believe that the flat tax will be flat and have no deductions? Does anyone believe that a flat tax will remain flat even for three years?

Mr. Eldridge’s comments are an attempt to stop the FairTax®, the only real tax reform that eliminates the IRS, grows the economy much more rapidly and creates American jobs.

I just saw Mr. Hayes comments.BTW, I an a RETIRED tax lawyer/CPA. I see Mr. Hayes was a tax lawyer - most lawyers I have ever met are numerically challenged which may affect our conversation.

let's start with WELFARE. 1) Mr. Hayes must now be a PROPHET. He now makes economic predictions but has not yet earned that economists can predict NOTHING - where do I get my financial guarantee insurance policy that the FT will bring more jobs - and that the poor are guaranteed to take them rather than collect welfare. 2) Mr. Hayes apparently does not understand how the Prebate works and thus fails to understand how it is guaranteed to pay the poor MORE $ than they will ever pay on their poverty level purchases, resulting in a NEGATIVE TAX, Prebate Bonus, WELFARE CHECK.

Yep, Mr. Hayes IS numerically challenged or just a FT FRAUD merchant. If a product costs $100 BEFORE adding FT, the FT will be $30 (not $23) and the total is $130. The FT Fraudsters want us to divide $30 by $130 and get "only" 23%. While they try to rationalize that view, IMHO they make n sense financially.

It gets worse, Mr. Hayes has drunk the Kool-aid, too. You may yet have to file an "Annual FT Summary" and undergo more invasive audits than ever before - if they appoint a NEW "IRS" (STAA) Commissioner who is tasked with protecting the revenue. On Planet FT, there will be no Black Market and everyone will continue to shop at Wal-Mart - on Earth, the opposite will occur.

This is the most shocking. I can understand that Mr. Hayes is numerically challenged and a Kool-Aid drinker, but he was also a tax lawyer. As such he SHOULD know that no-one can tie the hands of a future Congress which can make BOTH the FT AND the FLAT taxes far more complex thus they are BOTH equally exposed in this regard.

Yes, I am trying to stop this FT disaster because it is a Progressive WELFARE INCREASE and a FINANCIAL SCAM - 40-70% combined FED S/L AND SEVERAL hidden taxes (note that Mr. Hayes failed to address my HIDDEN TAXES).

It was probably a good thing that Mr. Hayes gave up practicing tax law a long time ago.

To Stephen C. A highly graduated income tax is the second plank of Carl Marx's Communist Manifesto. He knew it was the best way to get control of the population. The Fair Tax eliminates income taxes and will help get us off the path to socialism that we are headed down. It puts control of their money back in the hands of the people, where it belongs. And it spreads the tax burden over a larger percent of the population to give relief to current tax payers. It's a "no-brainer!"

Pat,

I am NOT advocating keeping today's graduated IT.

I advocate a 10% Flat IT, NO deductions, exemptions or credits.

The FT is MORE Karl Marx in the important tactic Marxism employs, specifically WEALTH REDISTRIBUTION ("from each according to his MEANS,to each according to his NEEDS").

The FT is MORE wealth redistribution. Its Prebate guarantees every poor family a higher welfare check because the Prebate will EXCEED any FT they will pay (and workers and fraudulent non-workers will get FREE SS/MEDI.

Fred,

Will the FT also grow hair on my bald head?

This is yet another package of the FT hype and propaganda.

The FT does not even purport to restrain govt SPENDING - it has nothing to do with federal SPENDING. It purports to be tax revenue-neutral (but it will fail miserably in that goal)so as to have no impact on federal spending.

The “Fair Tax” (“FT”) is a Fraud – we need a 10% Tithe!

I am a retired tax lawyer/CPA, with no financial interest in ANY tax system. For supporting details call 423-532-7337.

FT is Karl Marx on steroids AND a Bernie Madoff financial scam.

The FT proudly advertises that it INCREASES WELFARE. The Prebate is advertised as merely repaying the poor for any FT they pay, but actually would pay them far more than any FT they might pay and also gives the working poor free SS/Medi.

The FT is a 40-70% in-your-face retail sales tax that would spark a taxpayer rebellion that would destroy our 70% retail-sales-sensitive economy. 40% = 30% FT e.g., 10% S/L - 70% is the rate needed at a sample 30% FT evasion rate (the FT incredibly assumes ZERO evasion and ZERO intentional reduction in spending).

IN ADDITION to that 40-70% tax, the FT contains several HIDDEN TAXES. FT’s 30% rate is really 42 %; the 12 % is hidden by having fed S/L govts paying FT – they must get that money from you. The initial 30% rate is 1-5% short. The FT causes the fed budget for SS to rise by 1) SS COLA of almost 30% and 2) fraudulent new SS benefits.

The NEW IRS (i.e., the STAA) will be worse, more invasive, than today’s IRS – we may well have to file an “Annual FT Summary”.

We may well wind up with BOTH a NEW Income Tax AND the FT.

What we need is a Flat Income Tax with No Deductions, No Exemptions, No Credits and a 10% rate.Call your representatives in Congress and let them know that this is what you want.

Fairtax sounds great -- I was for it before anyone even named it, before Boortz wrote Fairtax Book.

But the I read the fine print. Yeah FINE PRINT.

I now offer 50,000 dollars if anyone can show ANYTHING in HR 25, or from ANYTHING in Fairtax documents that proves it's even a simple personal retail consumption tax.

I will also give another 50,000 dollars, on top of that 50K, if anyone can show me Fairtax supposed research on a simple personal retail consumption tax.

Seriously -- READ. THE. FINE. PRINT.

It does not matter what they tell you in books, it does not matter what they claim in videos, its not important what they claim in speeches.

YOu either get this or you do not. Fairtax books videos and speeches sound great - because they are not true.

In the fine print, for example, are massive wage and pension expenditure taxes. Did you know that?

Chicago city council would owe over 240 million dollars, just in wage expenditure and pension expenditure taxes.

St Louis would owe over 60 million, and Dallas would owe over 100 million.

Guess who "forgets" to mention this -- go look in your Fairtax books, videos and speeches. Look real close. Go on look. See anything in there about the 1.5 Trillion dollars of "other taxes".

Do you?

Do you see in those books, videos and speeches, a WORD -- even one word -- about the massive tax on capital investments, in ADVANCE?

Hello no you don't see that.

Do you see anything in your Fairtax books about the 32,000 fed tax on EVERY cancer patient who "consumes" 140K worth of cancer surgery and chemo?

Hello no you don't see it. Not a word.

You think they forgot? You think these guys writing the books, doing the vidoes, and speeches FORGOT about the massive wage and pension expenditure taxes?

NO, they didnt forget. They knew very well they have these massive other taxes in the fine print.

They just hoped you didn't know. And they sure as hello werent going to tell you

Fred Walker may or may not be one of those that bothered to read all the Fairtax documents. He probably read the Fairtax Book, which is like reading Bernie Madoff sales brochure Hey Fred, go read something real.

I put 100K up, and I can back up everything I say. If you don't believe me, read all the Fairtax documents, and if you still don't believe me, read President Bush Tax Advisory Panel.

President Bush heard these great sounding claims - but they studied the FINE PRINT and documents from Beacon Hill. They reported -- more politely -- what I report here.

Dont be so easily fooled by hustlers. We need a new tax code, we don't need slick double talk hiding massive impossible taxes -- which is what Fairtax basically is.

“Fairtax sounds great -- I was for it before anyone even named it, before Boortz wrote Fairtax Book.”

Fair tax not only “sounds great” it is great! You are correct.

“But the I read the fine print. Yeah FINE PRINT.”

There is no “fine print” HR:25 is only 131 double spaced typed pages and contains no fine print or misleading ideologies.

“I now offer 50,000 dollars if anyone can show ANYTHING in HR 25, or from ANYTHING in Fairtax documents that proves it's even a simple personal retail consumption tax.”

From the title page of HR:25:

“113TH CONGRESS,

1ST SESSION

, H. R. 25

To promote freedom, fairness, and economic opportunity by repealing the

income tax and other taxes, abolishing the Internal Revenue Service,

and enacting a national sales tax to be administered primarily by the

States.

Sales taxes are taxes on consumption, the act of purchasing goods and services.

Send my money to www.fairtax.org Thank you for your contribution.

“I will also give another 50,000 dollars, on top of that 50K, if anyone can show me Fairtax supposed research on a simple personal retail consumption tax.”

The list of reference material is far to extensive to print in this space you know that if you did in fact study the Bill. I would suggest readers find a copy of the Bill and the books referenced by Mr. Curran. They are available at most public libraries, on-line and in many Book Stores. I highly recommend the Neal Boortz Fair Tax Books.

“Seriously -- READ. THE. FINE. PRINT.” There is no fine print, please read the Bill.

“It does not matter what they tell you in books, it does not matter what they claim in videos, its not important what they claim in speeches.”

I can not fathom why anyone would suggest “it does not matter” what is written about or debated concerning this most important Bill. If this statement were true there would be no need for any one to read or study anything about changing the Federal Tax Code. It does matter! This Bill is to far reaching, the Citizens must know about HR:25 The Fair Tax Bill. Citizens need to understand it throughly. Contrary to the actions of current Political Parties and many naysayers wishing to keep the Federal Income Tax status-quo, the people supporting passage of HR:25 encourage open debate. They encourage Citizens to read the Bill. No one supporting HR:25 has the audacity to say something like “we have to pass the Bill before you know what is in the Bill”, I have not met one person working for passage of HR:25 that has suggested trying to hide any information about the Bill! How many Bills before the U.S. Congress can you sat that about? The fact that you are reading this proves this point! Those supporting passage of HR:25 are not afraid of any one questing or debating HR:25!

Mr. Curran should have asked, READ THE BILL.

That is all I would ask. There are a few people making unfounded or visionary statements about HR:25 The Fair Tax Bill. Do not be fooled! There are very powerful forces working to stop this Bill. The simple fact that it repeals the 16th Amendment strikes fear in the hart of those dedicated to the manipulation of the Federal Tax Code. There are trillions of dollars at stake! Expect more push back on this Bill than any Bill in the last 200 years. This Bill will weaken if not destroy the foundation of Federal Tax lobbyist industry. The leverage to influence Representatives and Senators will be greatly diminished by passage of HR:25. The time and money currently spent on manipulation of the current failed Federal Income Tax will fade away. Hopefully this will allow Congress to spend time working for the Citizens of the United Stats instead of against them.

Please download and read the Bill www.fairtax.org or http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/z?c113:H.R.25:

In reply to Mr. Walker's reply to Mark Curran,

Mr. Curran is NOT saying the FT is GREAT - only FT "true-believers" like you think so.

Other than certain of his numbers, Mr. Curran "gets it". All you have to offer is mere FT propaganda.

For example, you say "no fine print" in the FT.

You may answer hyper-literally, but substantively, that is a BIG LIE. There are several HIDDEN TAXES in that fine print.

I have never seen you offer anything but

propaganda, never substance and never any in-depth info about the FT.
