Today, Governor Greg Abbott announced his endorsement of conservative State Representative Jay Dean in his bid for re-election to the House District 7 seat. The district covers Gregg and Upshur counties.

In his endorsement, Governor Abbott lauded Dean for his work ethic, principles, and leadership: "As a lifelong conservative, Jay Dean has been a tireless advocate for the values of faith, family, and fiscal responsibility," said Abbott. "Respected for his work in the House, Representative Dean continues to be a leader in maintaining the Texas brand of economic liberty and individual freedom.  I urge the voters in Gregg and Upshur counties to re-elect Representative Dean for another term."
In the Texas House, Jay Dean has built a solid reputation as an effective conservative legislator rooted in strong East Texas values and the principles of limited government.
"Texas is blessed to have the strong and principled leadership of Governor Abbott," said Dean. "He has a vision that will further unleash our great state's potential for liberty and prosperity, and I am grateful for his service. It has been my honor to represent our area and work to advance a conservative agenda that works for Texas families and our economy. I appreciate the Governor's recognition of what I accomplished in my first session, and I look forward to continuing to work for East Texas."
This endorsement joins a long list of conservative supporters including local community leaders and officeholders. Dean was elected to the Texas House in 2016 after defeating a primary challenger by 16 points. Dean has a perfect rating from the NRA and is endorsed by Texas Alliance for Life. He was recognized as a 2017 Conservative Champion by the Texas Conservative Coalition.
