Go Hollywood

When I was a kid the wearing of sunshade glasses was not as prevalent as it later became.  Often someone would say concerning another person wearing sunshade glasses, “He’s going Hollywood,” or “He went Hollywood on us!” This was because movie actors and actresses often wore them about everywhere they went.  This was accusing the individual wearing sunshades of trying to act like a movie star.

To “go Hollywood” means to behave as if you are a very important person.  The expression can also be used concerning someone actually pursuing fame and fortune.

In reality when we are under the bright sunlight to wear sunshades would be the smart thing to do.  I just had cataract surgery on my right eye.  They provided me with solar shade glasses after the operation. Without them the sun light was too bright for me to keep the eye open.  The cataract in my left eye is scheduled to be removed as well.  Already I can see color and contrast between light and dark areas more brightly and clearly.
