Forum to Focus on Drought and Other Extreme Weather Events

AUSTIN, Texas — The University of Texas at Austin is hosting its third annual drought symposium “Water Forum III: Droughts and Other Extreme Weather Events” on Oct. 14-15. With Texas reservoirs at 60 percent capacity because of a drought now in its third year, the issue continues to be critically important for the state. 

WHEN: Oct. 14 from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.; Oct. 15 from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

WHERE: Monday: Ballroom North (2.410), Student Activity Center; Tuesday: Legislative Assembly Room (2.302), Student Activity Center

BACKGROUND: The event, hosted by the university’s Center for Integrated Earth System Science, focuses on the latest research and provides a forum for discussion of trends, problems and future directions. Themes include impacts and mitigation, observations and monitoring, modeling and prediction, decision support systems, and causes and mechanisms.
