Fatal wreck occurs on 155

A 37-year-old Gladewater woman died of injuries received in a 2-vehicle wreck Friday on Hwy. 155 about a mile south of its intersection with U.S. 271, and the 29-year-old Longview man driving the car remains in critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit at East Texas Medical Center in Tyler.

The wreck occurred about 6:50 p.m.

The deceased is Kelly Denise Thomas. She was pronounced dead at about 11:50 p.m. The car’s driver was Patrick Neil Nash.

The wreck occurred about 6 p.m. Friday.

A Texarkana man who witnessed the accident told the investigating Department of Public Safety Trooper, Wayne Cavanaugh, that he was northbound and saw the southbound 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt in which Ms. Thomas and Nash were traveling do a U-turn in front of a southbound U.S. Mail truck, driven by Peggy Precise, 63, of Tyler.

The Highway Patrol investigated the accident. Also responding to the scene was the Gilmer Fire Department and four units from the Upshur County Sheriff’s Office.

Two air ambulance helicopters carried Ms. Thomas and Nash to East Texas Medical Center Tyler, where she was pronounced dead.
