UPDATE: 279 persons in all voted early.

There had been 222 early votes in Gilmer’s wet-dry election, as of Tuesday morning. Tuesday was the last day of early voting.

Election day on the issue is this Saturday.

Regular voting will be conducted 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 10, at Gilmer High School, 850 Buffalo St.

Two propositions are on the ballot:

1. “The legal sale of beer and wine for off-premise consumption only.”

2. “The legal sale of mixed beverages in restaurants by food and beverage certificate holders only.”

Gilmer will not have a city council election, since the incumbents were all unopposed.

However, it will have the election on the two alcohol-related propositions. The city contracted with the school district to hold the election at the school.
