ETMC Tyler has been named by Becker's Healthcare as one of the "150 Great Places to Work in Healthcare" in the 2014 list published this week.

"ETMC is blessed with employees who each day dedicates themselves to our mission of serving East Texans," noted Elmer G. Ellis, president/CEO of the East Texas Medical Center Regional Healthcare System.  "This award honors these team members and the programs that define our workplace culture."

The ETMC Regional Healthcare System was created in 1951 with the opening of Medical Center Hospital, now ETMC Tyler.  The "150 Great Places to Work" article cites ETMC's employee-driven programs that benefit its team members.  These include the ETMC Helping Hands program, a crisis fund that has distributed more than $730,000 in funding since 2001 to Tyler area team members and their families. Additional programs include the ETMC WOW! team member recognition system and an employee activities committee that plans events throughout the year.

Becker's Healthcare editorial team conducts research, considers nominations and evaluates organizations based on their benefits, workplace culture, professional development opportunities and previous recognition for workplace excellence. The 150 organizations in the 2014 list include hospitals, health systems, ambulatory surgery centers, physician groups and other healthcare organizations.
