ETBU Jazz Band In Concert at Marshall Visual Arts Center

MARSHALL, Texas (10/29/12)- The East Texas Baptist University Jazz Band will present its annual fall concert on Friday, November 9, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. in the Marshall Visual Arts  Center , located at 208 East Burleson in downtown Marshall.

The Jazz Band, under the direction of  ETBU Professor of Music Douglas Lockard, will perform jazz hits from the past and present, opening with Got Rhythm?, an original tune from Doug Beach based on the chord changes to Gershwin’s I Got Rhythm. Other numbers on the concert include Charlie Parker’s Scrapple from the Apple, Dizzy Gillespie’s A Night In Tunisia, Work in Progress, Thelonious Monk’s Well You Needn’t, Bobby Darin’s classic Beyond the Sea, and two of Stevie Wonder’s hits, Sir Duke and I Wish. 

The concert is sponsored by the Marshall Regional Arts Council. Admission is $5 or free with ETBU I.D.
