Golden Harp Award winners will bring traditional mountain sounds to Gilmer.

The award winning Marksmen Quartet will bring their unique style of gospel music to the East Texas Yamboree Gospel Stage at the Gilmer Civic Center, Highway 271 North, Saturday, Oct. 17 at 12 p.m. The group will do three shows 1 p.m., 4:30 and 7:30 p.m. Others appearing Saturday at the two-day event include The Latimers, His Harmony, Homeward Bound, The Hamptons, Harmony Quartet, Paul's Journey, Wesley Brothers, David's Song, and the Forgiven Quartet. The Friday show begins at 4 p.m. featuring including Canaan Bound, Paul's Journey, Established, The Texas Watchmen, and the Pleasant Mountain Boys and others. Admission is free. The Four-time Contemporary Bluegrass Gospel Group of the Year and four-time Country Gospel Quartet of the Year winners from the Country Gospel Music Guild will perform many of their hits songs including “He Is I Am,” “Meet Me In Heaven,” “Potter’s Wheel,” “Preach the Cross” and “Grandpa Was a Farmer.”

They recently were awarded the Golden Harp Award for 2009 and their release “God’s Masterpiece” was nominated for a Dove Award in 2008.

“I am blessed to have a wonderful group of pickers and singers that work with me on stage to present the gospel in song in an energetic way,” said Earle Wheeler, quartet leader. “They are true professionals in their talent but most of all they are all dedicated Christian servants in their lives. It is an honor to walk on the stage with such a great bunch of entertainers. They are helping us present some of the best shows I have ever done. Y’all come and be a part of it!!!”

After and more than 40 albums, winning four times as Gospel Bluegrass Band of the Year from SPBGMA, the group continues its legendary musical legacy with their latest CD project by Earle Wheeler, Mark Wheeler, Darrin Chambers and Davey Waller “God’s Masterpiece.” Mountain Heart’s Barry Abernathy and Jim Van Cleve guest on the project. The latest addition to the Marksmen roster is bassist and vocalist Mark Autry.

The Marksmen Quartet’s latest CD/DVD project “God’s Masterpiece” by Rural Rhythm Records and is available at Wal-Marts and other music retailers.

The Marksmen Quartet is an inductee of the Lone Star State Country Music Association Gospel Music Hall of Fame and the Atlanta Country Music Hall of Fame.
