KILGORE, TEXAS—Digital learning comes in all flavors, and the Region 7 Education Service Center’s (ESC) first library and digital media mini-conference, Digital Scoops, will offer digital media specialists, instructional technologists and other school technology personnel a variety of sessions to help them power up instruction in the digital age.
The conference is being held July 10 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the ESC located at 1909 N. Longview St. in Kilgore. Participants can register for the Digital Scoops mini-conference online by visiting https://misweb.esc7.net and registering for session number 043654. Online registration closes July 8, but interested participants may contact Cathy Nail at 903-988-6950 to register after the registration deadline.
Sessions will cover popular topics including Google apps and extensions such as Google Chrome, enhancing the classroom with web 2.0 tools, using eBooks in schools, creating paperless classrooms, “flipping” classrooms, marketing libraries in the digital age, and creating websites using Google Sites.
A representative from the Texas State Library and Archives Commission will also present information about the new TexQuest, which is a statewide database program for K-12 public schools and open enrollment charter schools that is funded by the state. Refreshments will be provided for participants and door prizes will be awarded during the closing session.
“This conference offers digital media specialists and instructional technologists the opportunity to learn from practitioners and experts in the field,” said Region 7 ESC Digital Learning Coordinator, Donna Stanley. “Technology continues to be an integral part of education, and our Region 7 staff is here to offer the resources and training school personnel need to ensure student success.”
