Private services for Mrs. Deressia Owen Fort, 98, of Gilmer will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, at Turner Brothers Mortuary with Minister Debra Taylor officiating.

Burial will be at Community Cemetery.

Mrs. Fort died Monday, Dec. 24, in Gilmer.

I am Foy Knox;s granddaughter...Deressia was the cook (dare I say Chef) for my grandparents restaurant in Gilmer (Foy Knox Cafe)...I grew up (spending every summer with my grandp[arents) on her good food.

My latest and fondest memory was in 1981 when I came through town to pick up a car and drive it back o New Orleans..I unexpectedly dropped in and Deressia made my favorite dessert before she knocked off work,,,banana pudding!

She wa a stern, fine and dear woman...my sympathies to her family and God Bless...
