Crossroads Music Company Announces Fall Line-up

Winnsboro, Texas – August 6, 2013

Crossroads Music Company & Listening Room in Winnsboro has just announced their exciting line-up of performers for the remainder of 2013.  Crossroads is an intimate listening environment with concerts held in the Winnsboro Center for the Arts, 200 Market Street, in Winnsboro.  They are listed on the County Line Magazine Hall of Fame for “Best Live Music Venue”!  There are ten concerts scheduled in the months to come - three in August, three in September, three in October, and one in November .  In addition the Crossroads 8th Anniversary Celebration comes along in December.

The performers coming to Crossroads, many from gigs on European stages,  always please the local listeners!  Check them out on their websites or on Youtube, make your choices, and then come on down to hear them live and visit with them during intermission.

The season began August 3rd with a knock-out performance by Pauline Reese.  Pauline was Texas Music Awards Entertainer of the Year and Female Vocalist of the Year in 2012. Music News of Nashville says of her music “You can write a list of flashy adjectives to describe it, but at the end of the day, it’s just plain and simple good”. On August 24th, 2-Bit Palomino comes back to town.  This trio is the Texas Music Awards Vocal Group of the Year, a repeat of that award in 2011. Grammy Award winner Lloyd Maines says of their new CD –“The harmonies are very impressive! August 30th brings the legendary, Grand Old Opry headliner, Billy Joe Shaver to the Crossroads stage. Billy Joe is a Grammy nominee, a member of the Texas Country Music Hall of Fame, and has won The  American Music Association  Lifetime Achievement Award in Songwriting.  Johnny Cash said he is “my favorite songwriter”.  www.billyjoeshaver.com

September 7th brings the talented and engaging Rhett Butler.  USA Today described his performance as “Light hearted banter.  Deadly serious playing style” and the Austin Chronicle said of Rhetts’ signature act of playing two guitars at the same time, “10 fingers, 2 guitars, and a roomful of jaws hitting the floor”. September 14th features Winnsboros’ own Lynn Adler of the award winning duo of Adler & Hearne. Lynns’ wonderful voice and persona will be joined by four other female performers in a show called Women in the Round – part of the Winnsboro Center for the Arts celebration of Women in the Arts.  www.adlerhearne.com

The crowd pleasing Kinky Friedman appears on September 28. Singer / Songwriter / Humorist / Novelist / Politician Kinky Friedman is returning to Crossroads where he usually plays to standing room only crowds so get tickets early for this.   www.kiinkyfriedman.com

 

 

October  5th brings Grammy Award Winner Brad Davis and his acoustic band to town.    Brads’ playing credentials include a long list names you would quickly recognize.  He’s written movie scores and appeared on several network TV evening shows. On October 12th, Druha Trava comes back to town as part of their 2013 US Tour!  These five guys won the Andel Award, which is the Czech Republic equivalent of the Grammy.  And that’s where they are from. Their acoustic folk/rock/bluegrass sound always entertains.   www.druhatrava.us  The opening act – not confirmed yet but looking very likely - will be the 2011 British Country Music Award winner for “Americana Act of the Year” , The Good Intentions,  coming from Liverpool on their first US Tour. http://www.thegoodintentions.co.uk

A week later, on the 18th of October, Jimmy LaFave will be here.  Jimmy has been playing his ‘red dirt music’ around the world since the 1980’s.  He’s a Kerrville Folk Festival regular and a winner of the 1995 Austin Music Awards Best Singer/Songwriter. On November 9th, one of the sweetest voices around, Heather McCready will bring her trio to town.  Singer/songwriter/producer Milo Deering and Brian Magnus who brings the sound of the cello to accompany Haethers’ voice which I Am Entertainment magazine described as “the perfect mix of class and clarity”. www.heathermccready.com
