Caitlin Reed earns another scholarship

Caitlin Reed, the 15 year old daughter of Norman and Elizabeth Reed of New Diana, was recently awarded a $4000 scholarship from the Southwestern Exposition and Livestock Show, to be used toward the college of her choice.

Through her participation at the Fort Worth Stock Show in January, she submitted an application and essay on her Horse Story. This is the second scholarship Caitlin has recieved this year. In addition to the scholarships, Caitlin has been selected to the State 4-H Equine Ambassador program and will represent Upshur County from 2013-2014 after attending a training camp this summer.

Caitlin is active in both 4-H and FFA. She is President of two 4-H clubs and the 4-H County Council. Caitlin was given the 2013 Star Green Hand award and named Secretary of the New Diana FFA for 2013-2014. Caitlin is an Honors student at New Diana High School and her life goal is to become a Veterinary Research Surgeon. Under the guidance of Dr. Cherie Nazzal and Dr. Rob Thoni she has already logged over 260 clinical hours towards her 4-H Veterinary Science certification.
