PLANO, Texas – Sept 17, 2013 – Cirro Energy, a subsidiary of Dominion Resources, is helping make possible the opening of the new Rory Meyers Children’s Adventure Garden at the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden. Opening Sept. 21, this garden sets the gold standard for children’s outdoor educational facilities worldwide, addressing life and earth science education requirements in a beautiful, practical and experiential setting with hands on learning. Cirro Energy’s donation will specifically support the first year’s educational programming in “Plants Are Alive,” one of 12 new interactive galleries that will be featured in the Adventure Garden.

Cirro Energy’s financial support for the Dallas Arboretum is just one component of our involvement,” said Cindi Wakefield, spokesperson for Cirro Energy. “We’re also participating in the grand opening where Cirro Energy volunteers will be on hand to show the garden’s wonder to visitors of all generations from across the state of Texas. This is another chapter in Cirro Energy’s longstanding commitment to educational programs that benefit the communities we serve. We’re excited to be a part of such an important exhibit that explains how plants use energy.”

The “Plants Are Alive” exhibit focuses on the processes that plants use to convert sunlight into energy. Through the use of fun, hands-on features, children and adults will experience the joy of learning in an impactful and memorable way. With everything from giant flowers that children can build, to a scavenger trail which shows many examples of the same plant parts, to a light-up display that demonstrates how plants take in water, this exhibit is sure to leave a positive impact on everyone experiencing the science brought to life.

“We appreciate the commitment of Cirro Energy and its employees to our new Rory Meyers Children’s Adventure Garden,” said Cecile Bonte, Rory Meyers Children’s Adventure Garden Capital Campaign Chair at the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden. “The Arboretum is dedicated to teaching people about nature through exciting and captivating outdoor environments and classrooms. We’re so grateful for supporters like Cirro Energy that have underwritten the educational programming for the first year for Plants Are Alive for our Adventure Garden.”

The Rory Meyers Children’s Adventure Garden promises to be an amazing addition to the Dallas Arboretum. With science, nature, space exploration and energy exhibits spread across 17 galleries over 8 acres, the garden has something for everyone. It served over 100,000 children in 2013, and is destined to double or triple that in 2014.
