Get ready for some excitement!

Near-perfect Fall weather is forecast for the 75th Yamboree, which begins today and continues through Saturday.

While a chance of thunderstorms, was in today’s forecast, the rest of the week looks great!

Daytime temperatures are expected to be mild with highs in the 70s, with cool nights and lows ranging from the high 40s to about 60 over the 4-day period.

Loaded with events and activities for people of all ages, the Yamboree may be one of the nation’s largest “homecomings,” with estimates from the Texas Department of Transportation that it may attract up to 100,000 people to Gilmer.

It’s certainly among the top festivals in Texas, and much more than a county fair.

Queen Yam LXXV, Mary Paige Linder, will be crowned in ceremonies at the Gilmer Civic Center tonight and Thursday night.

There’s enough going on, including free activities, to keep everyone entertained. From the carnival downtown to the livestock shows at the Yamboree grounds off U.S. 271 North, expect four fun-filled days!

And the food—you’ll find some of the best barbecue, turkey legs, yam fries, hamburgers, and more in East Texas.
