Social Marketing Listed as Seminar for Texas Spring Book Festival 2013
AUSTIN, TEXAS—The Texas Association of Authors includes “Social Marketing for Authors” to its Texas Spring Book Festival line up. Social Marketing for Authors will begin 9 am on April 20th at the Hickory Street Café.
As social media gains momentum, authors could be left in the dark. The social marketing seminar would help an author learn how to utilize social media such as blogs, Facebook and Twitter. In the seminar, publishing options will be discussed to help the best possible course for each
“I remember the day when social media wasn’t even imagined. I had to adapt when working on my books. As old school techniques no longer are as effective,” B. Alan Bourgeois, founder of the Texas Association of Authors, “It’s become a must to understand that promoting one’s work is no longer in the hands of the publisher.”
The seminar will be lead by Danielle Hart of Authors Assistant and will focus on the key areas of publishing including the use of traditional and independent options. She has helped authors through the myriad of changes in the publishing industry. Danielle believes that word-of-mouth is still the best form of promotion in today's publishing industry, and the best way to get people talking is continual marketing via social media venues such as Facebook, Twitter, Goodreads and Youtube.
Social Marketing will be a 30 minute seminar followed by a 15 minute Q & A.
Due to the popularity of both the Spring Festival and Ms. Hart’s seminar is limited and reservations are required. Guests may also purchase breakfast for $15.00 at the event and proceeds will go to help future authors find their way with the help of the Texas Association of Authors.
The Texas Association of Authors is also promoting a fundraiser to help raise money for the event by offering one lucky winner a set of books from last year’s Spring Book Festival.
