Route 49 Biker Rally Donation to City of Jefferson Volunteer Fire Department

JEFFERSON, TX, APRIL 25, 2012: The Inaugural Route 49 Biker Rally was held on March 23-25, 2012 at the Diamond Don RV Park in Jefferson, Texas. The weekend started on Friday evening with a meet and greet BBQ, beer garden and Didley Squat in concert.

The major event and activities started on Saturday with a Poker Run, Bike Show, and Multiple Concerts. Unfortunately, due to the recent rains the biker games had to be cancelled for safety reasons, but that didn’t stop the concerts and fabulous visitation of old and new friends.

The RV Park was a perfect venue just one mile from downtown Jefferson. Participates enjoyed some great concerts and food in the 1,800 sq ft barn (known as the Critter Shack) to rock the night away with multiple bands. On Friday evening and Saturday we heard the sounds of Didley Squat, Dazed, Rocq Show Band and our main band Velcro Fly (a ZZ Top Tribute Band).

Auntie Skinners hosted the Bike Show on Saturday afternoon outside on Austin Street. We had a great crowd of spectators and bikers that participated in the Bike Parade from downtown Jefferson to the RV Park after the Bike Show on Saturday. On Sunday Morning a devotion and Blessing of the Bikes was held at 8:30 a.m. led by Steve Wise Ministry ( Wise succeeded in motorcycle racing beyond his wildest dreams. He has traveled around the world sharing his faith in Christ at various churches, racetracks and special events.

We would like to take this time to thank the City of Jefferson, the merchants and vendors that supported this effort and making it a smashing success.

A special thank you goes out to Coors Distributing from Longview, TX, Big Pines Lodge in Karnack, TX, Iron Cowboy Mercantile in DeBerry, TX, Jefferson Ice Express in Jefferson, TX and Johnny Cace’s in Longview, TX for all of their support during this event.

On April 30, 2012 at the Jefferson Volunteer Fire Station in Jefferson at 7:00 PM, James Novey (Route 49) and Diamond Don Rainey (Diamond Don Racing/RV Park) will be presenting a check to the Jefferson’s Volunteer Fire Department. The Fire Department was instrumental in saving lives and property during the terrible fires of last fall. Route 49 Rally would like to express its appreciation for all of the support from the biker community and the local business involved in this project.

Save the Date for next year’s Rally planned for March 22-24, 2013 at Diamond Don’t RV Park in Jefferson. We look forward to seeing you there!
